“Roses Everywhere,” goes through a struggle. She tries to communicate and at a moment when words do not suffice, she offers roses to the one she cannot communicate. In this relationship, roses are not just flowers but they also refer to the female body as this is a love story between two women. In “Roses Everywhere” perhaps suggests a sense of wonder on being or becoming a woman. In the image of the pink roses that the photographer gives to her lover, we find a space to question the concept of gender and its relationship to romantic love. Cansu’s work helps us perceive love regardless of miscommunications it may involve, and beyond the assigned gender roles.
